Institutional-cum-Faculty Development Programme 2025

A week-long Institutional cum Faculty Development Programme (ICFDP) was successfully conducted from June 8–13, 2025, at St Aloysius University, Mangalore, and St Joseph’s University, Bangalore.
Dr Joseph Marianus Kujur SJ, Director, XISS, along with Dr Pradeep Kerketta SJ, Assistant Director, Dr Amar Eron Tigga, Dean Academics, Fr Ashok Kandulna, Finance Officer, Faculty Members from the Human Resource Management, Rural Management, Marketing Management, and Financial Management, and Fr Ashok Sandil, Coordinator of XIPT attended the ICFDP.
The objective was to deliberate on the effective implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) and associated frameworks like the National Credit Framework, Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), and value-added initiatives fostering social responsibility, emotional well-being, ethics, and environmental consciousness.
Dr Joseph Marianus Kujur SJ, Director, XISS discussed the ICFDP to be aa critical step toward reimagining education in line with NEP 2020. He mentioned how this process will empower the faculty with insights, best practices, and strategies to strengthen academics, quality assurance, and value-based education—ensuring XISS remains future-ready while rooted in Jesuit values of excellence and social responsibility.
During the ICFDP session aAt St Aloysius University, Mangalore, the opening session was led by Rev Dr Praveen Martis SJ, Vice Chancellor, who spoke on “Autonomy to the University.” Faculty members reflected on the learnings and shared actionable strategies for implementation.

Meanwhile, at St. Joseph University, Bengaluru, sessions began with discussions to translate best practices into NEP-aligned strategies for XISS. This was followed by a session at St. Joseph’s College of Commerce (SJCC), where Fr Dr Charles Lasrado SJ acknowledged XISS’s excellence in research and government projects. Registrar, Mr Raj Sadhwani. highlighted holistic development and technological integration. Further, interaction with Vice Principal Dr Ruqsana Anjum provided key insights—specifically, the need for XISS to align with UGC’s National Credit and Curriculum Frameworks. Concluding the sessions, discussions centred on integrating Ability Enhancement, Skill-Based, and Value-Based Courses.
In conclusion, the ICFDP, XISS resonated with restructuring its curriculum to include multidisciplinary, value-based, and industry-relevant courses. To enhance internships, certificate programs, and MOOCs to foster employability and practical skills. The leverage of digital infrastructure for teaching, administration, and assessments to be increased, to ensure continuous faculty training on NEP principles and technology integration and strengthen IQAC functions and formulate a strategic NEP implementation plan. In view of promoting holistic student development through mentoring, outreach, and flexible learning models like ABC and multiple entry-exit options.
These strategic insights aim to align XISS’s academic practices with NEP 2020, fostering excellence, inclusivity, and future-readiness.
