Background

Dr. Sant Kumar Prasad is an Associate Professor in the Programme of Rural Management and an Assistant Coordinator, Development Resource Centre at XISS, Ranchi. Dr. Prasad obtained his PhD degree from Ranchi University. His PhD thesis was on the role of ‘NGOs and Tribal Development with special reference to Jharkhand’. Dr Prasad is a law graduate and he holds dual masters in Rural Development from XISS, Ranchi and in History from Ranchi University.

Professional Experience

Dr. Prasad has worked in the development sector for more than three decades in different capacities in national and international development initiatives. He is also on the board of various NGOs as an advisor and consultant. His areas of interest and research are Project Management (PME), Participatory Rural Appraisal, Grassroots interventions, Training and teaching. He has led various projects of the institute in the area of capacity building of small NGOs/CBOs, initiating and strengthening network of NGOs, NGO management, Women’s Empowerment through SHGs, Local self-governance (PRIs), Enhancing livelihoods and entitlements to the poorest, Education, and Community Health. Dr. Prasad has written various developmental reports and articles in varied journals.

Achievements

Dr. Prasad has been the Summer Placement Coordinator from 2015-2019, and from 2019 is the new RM Department Placement Coordinator.
