Farewell to Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam
Together with the entire nation, Dr. Fr. Alex Ekka (Director XISS) led the institute to pay homage to the great and beloved leader Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, and offered prayers for the eternal reward of his departed soul. While the main condolence meeting was held in the auditorium, students in each class stood in a prayerful silence for two minutes. Along with the sharing of personal experiences with Dr. Kalam, rich tributes were paid to the departed soul. XISS was in the process of inviting Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam on the occasion of the Diamond Jubilee of the Institute.
Farewell to Dr. Mahadeo Sahu
Dr. Mahadev Sahu, after a service period of 37 years in XISS, was superannuated on 31st July, 2015. Dr. Sahu was in the second batch of Rural Development course (1976-78) and after completion of his studies, was assigned as the Project Officer in Bero Block. Although a graduate in Commerce, he specialized in Social Forestry. He went on to obtain his Ph.D. in Forestry. With his expertise, he was also engaging classes for the students of Rural Development. In XISS, Dr. Sahu was associated with the Development Resource Centre (DRC). XISS family wishes him good health and happy life in the days to come.
Congratulations Dr. KK Bhagat
Dr. Krityanand Kumar Bhagat, Associate Professor in the department of Rural Management was appointed as a Member, Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) by the Honorable Governor of Jharkhand. As a member JPSC, he would be advising on methods of recruitment to various Civil Services; principles to be followed in making appointments to civil services of the State and granting promotions, transfers from one service to another, and the suitability of candidates for such appointments, promotions and transfers. The XISS family wishes him all success for the future.
Total number of seats available in Two Years Full-time Post Graduate Diploma Programmes in Management (PGDM) are seventy five (75) each in Human Resource Management and Rural Management and sixty (60) each in Information Technology, Finance and Marketing Management specialization. Out of the above fifty per cent seats are reserved for SC/ST and Christian candidates.
Eligibility for Admission
Minimum qualification for admission to the PGDM program at the Institute is three / four years bachelor’s degree with minimum 55% marks in aggregate (50% for SC/ST) in any discipline recognized by Association of Indian Universities. However preference will be given to Engineering, Economics, Commerce, Management and Computer Science graduates and candidates with relevant work experience.

For the Final Placement batch of 2014-2016 Phase I will start on 28th October 2015 and continue till 5th December 2015. Phase II starts on 5th of January 2016 and continues till 31st March 2016.
The 53rd Annual Convocation of Xavier Institute of Social Service (XISS), Ranchi was held on 2nd of April 2014 in the XISS Campus. Additional Secretary, Union Rural Development, Mr. S. M. Vijayanand was the Chief Guest at the Convocation.
The chief guest was Shri SD Tripathy (Vice President Human Resources of Tata Steel) who in his stirring speech told the students that along with the academics, the human touch (or the empathy for fellow human beings) is very important in the hands of the manager. Sharing his experiences he told the students that life will provide them with many opportunities and that they should make or capitalise on the opportunities to make their own identities.

Ranchi is well connected to all major cities by Rail, Road and Air. Direct flihts are operated by various airlines to Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai and Patna. Connecting flight services are also available from most of the airlines to other major towns. Number of options are available to have a comfortable stay at Ranchi. Hotel suiting to every budget are located within 0.5 KM to 5.0 KMs from the institue campus. The travel desk at the placement cell can make bookings on your behalf.
