Xavier Institute of Social Service, Ranchi held its 54th annual convocation on 9th of April 2015 in a gala ceremony held at XISS Campus. It was a day of emotions at XISS. 301 diplomas were handed out to the students of the five postgraduate courses of the institute namely Human Resource Management (HRM), Rural Management (RM), Information Technology (IT), Marketing and Finance.The chief guest was Shri SD Tripathy (Vice President Human Resources of Tata Steel)
Xavier Institute of Social Service, Ranchi is hosting a two day in-house Faculty Development Program (FDP) at their campus in Ranchi on 11th and 12th of May 2015. The topic of the FDP is – Pedagogies in Teaching & Learning with special reference to ‘Case Method’ and is being coordinated by Dr. Shyamal Gomes in collaboration with a team of faculty members and with the blessings of Dr. (Fr.) Alex Ekka SJ. (Director, XISS) and Dr. (Fr.) Ranjit Pascal Toppo SJ. (Assistant Director, XISS).
In another long list of additions to the formal and informal institutions of XISS, the XISS-TMHC Retail Outlet was inaugurated and blessed on 5th of November 2014. The XISS-TMHC Store was set up with two fold objectives – providing XISS memorabilia to the present and past students of XISS and to act as an outlet for the Tribal Handicraft Marketing Cell (TMHC) so that the tribal handicrafts could reach the urban markets and give reasonable prices to their makers.
Total number of seats available in Two Years Full-time Post Graduate Diploma Programmes in Management (PGDM) are seventy five (75) each in Human Resource Management and Rural Management and sixty (60) each in Information Technology, Finance and Marketing Management specialization. Out of the above fifty per cent seats are reserved for SC/ST and Christian candidates.
Eligibility for Admission
Minimum qualification for admission to the PGDM program at the Institute is three / four years bachelor’s degree with minimum 55% marks in aggregate (50% for SC/ST) in any discipline recognized by Association of Indian Universities. However preference will be given to Engineering, Economics, Commerce, Management and Computer Science graduates and candidates with relevant work experience.

For the Final Placement batch of 2013-2015 Phase I started on 18th November 2014 and continued till 6th December 2014. Phase II started on 6th of January 2015 and continues till the time companies show interest.
The 53rd Annual Convocation of Xavier Institute of Social Service (XISS), Ranchi was held on 2nd of April 2014 in the XISS Campus. Additional Secretary, Union Rural Development, Mr. S. M. Vijayanand was the Chief Guest at the Convocation.
The chief guest was Shri SD Tripathy (Vice President Human Resources of Tata Steel) who in his stirring speech told the students that along with the academics, the human touch (or the empathy for fellow human beings) is very important in the hands of the manager. Sharing his experiences he told the students that life will provide them with many opportunities and that they should make or capitalise on the opportunities to make their own identities.

Ranchi is well connected to all major cities by Rail, Road and Air. Direct flihts are operated by various airlines to Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai and Patna. Connecting flight services are also available from most of the airlines to other major towns. Number of options are available to have a comfortable stay at Ranchi. Hotel suiting to every budget are located within 0.5 KM to 5.0 KMs from the institue campus. The travel desk at the placement cell can make bookings on your behalf.
