Xavier Institute of Social Service (XISS), Ranchi, organised its ‘Games and Sports Week’ from 1-3 February 2024 in the campus. Several sporting events were organised for students, faculty, and staff to showcase their athletic prowess.

Dr Joseph Marianus Kujur SJ, Director, XISS addressed the fervent crowd and said that it is a proud moment to inaugurate games and sports for the year 2024. Sports is all about physical, mental, and emotional skills. It is all about discipline and sportsmanship and one should play the games in all fairness despite the outcome.

The sporting events began with knockout matches of Basketball, Table-Tennis, Carrom, Chess, Futsal, Badminton, and Cricket. In the Basketball Match, in boys’ Team HRM defeated Team of Marketing Management by 25-12.

In a Basketball Competition (M) Human Resource Management (HRM) won against Rural Management (RM). In the Basketball Competition (M) Marketing Management (MM) won against Financial Management (FM). In the Futsal match between HRM and MM, HRM won. In the Carrom (Singles) FM won against RM while HRM won against MM. In the Badminton (W) MM won against RM and FM won against HRM. In the Cricket Tournament, Team Marketing Mangement were the winners, while Team Human Resource Management were the Runners Up.

Assistant Director, XISS, Dr Pradeep Kerketta SJ, Father Claber Minz, Heads of four Management Programmes of the institute and faculty were also present during these matches. Apart from this all the students of the institute, faculty, and staff are actively participating in these games.
