Development Resource Centre (DRC) draws its existence from the vision of 'Just humane and equitable' society where the underprivileged (poor & oppressed) assume their rightful place." The third component of the mission of XISS states “Capacity building of the NGOs for promoting sustainable development”.

DRC further visualizes itself as an effective resource centre facilitating the process of result oriented initiative where the underprivileged/ marginalized people have their rights and lead dignified life in the society.’ It has successfully been able to create a niche for itself - an identity which has been built out of years of relation and linkages with other NGO's, partner organization since its inception in the year 1989. The foundation of such strong nature has evolved through close training associations and extensive field based support to organizations.

DRC has gone a long way in promoting the capacities of the organizations on critical issues in their respective work areas and is still engaged in strengthening and supporting small NGOs of Jharkhand. It is functioning as a resource centre for Rural Development rendering expert services to organizations and institutions engaged in development work to enables NGOs, Corporate and CBOs to become accountable towards the developmental initiatives by building their capacity.

Strengthening Community Leadership on Reproductive Health

Under in-country fund mobilization in Leadership Development and Organization Effectiveness program, XISS has been able to mobilize fund from Sir Jamsetji Tata Trust with NBJK and IDF as implementing partners from Jharkhand and Bihar respectively.

Enhancing Institutional and Counseling Capacities of Counselor Training Institutes

This programme has been supported by Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria under Counseling as Sub component – Round 7. Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) being the primary recipient and 6 institutions being the secondary recipient and 40 institutions all over India being the sub-sub recipient. XISS is a sub- sub recipient.

  • By the newly constructed water diversion with a spill way, stood Fagua Pahan and many villagers of village Makunda of Itki block, ecstatic and gleeful as they watched the water gushing out of the newly constructed spill way. The situation was not the same a few months back. Way back in 1976 a spillway was constructed with the support of Patrachouli Parish which got demolished during the monsoon some 10 years back. A vast chunk of fertile land was eroded due to the phenomenon of surface run off every monsoon leaving the land unproductive for cultivation.

  • Enhancement of livelihood opportunities in the Selected Blocks of the south eastern region of Chotanagpur in the state of Jharkhand
  • Since May 2012, XISS is also implementing the project titled “Enhancement of livelihood opportunities in the Selected Blocks of the south eastern region of Chotanagpur in the state of Jharkhand” supported by the Italian Bishop’s Conference, Italy. The project is being implemented in 12 blocks of Ranchi and Khunti districts through 12 VOs and CBOs. The objective of the program is to promote, develop and implement a replicable model that would ensure household food security and improve livelihood opportunities.
