In the ongoing webinar series organized by Xavier Institute of Social Service (XISS), Ranchi, a Session – 4 was held on the topic, “Entrepreneurship in Rural Areas and Rural Women Entrepreneurs” on 18th September 2020.
Starting the session, Dr. (Fr.) Joseph Marianus Kujur S.J., Director, XISS, Ranchi shared the importance of entrepreneurship with everyone present. “Innovation and Entrepreneurship are important topics of today, which need to be thoroughly understood during these unprecedented times of Covid-19. Entrepreneurs are people who create new products, services and are willing to take risks. Also for the Rural Women Entrepreneurs, it is seen that women are mostly seen working in groups and have achieved unprecedented success whilst doing it. From today’s webinar, I hope that upcoming and willing entrepreneurs will learn the nuances of this subject and use it precisely, “Dr. Kujur said.
Taking the session further, Meghadeepa Chakraborty, Assistant Professor, Department of Commerce and Management, Banasthali Vidyapeeth discussed why it is necessary to talk about entrepreneurship. She also talked about the development of new employment opportunities due to entrepreneurship, about the disadvantages faced by women in their occupation during this Covid-19 period and the unfavorable conditions while they try to re-establish their business. She also appealed to the financial institutions to invest in these small businesses in rural areas so that the economy of the villages could be back on track.
Furthermore, Amalraj Marian from Invest Quotient Financial Services shared his experience of entrepreneurship journey and said that no person can be a successful entrepreneur from the beginning itself, but it is a long process in which patience is the key to success.
The session saw the participation of professors, entrepreneurs and students, where Dr. (Fr.) Ashok Ohol, SJ, XISS, Ranchi, also the moderator of webinar, took forward the Q&A session and concluded the session by thanking all the panelists for their time and valuable ideas.
