Xavier Institute of Social Service (XISS), Ranchi co-organized an International Webinar entitled: “Transforming Education Through Global Collaboration – The Roadmap” from 15 – 17 July 2020.
The esteemed Collaborators for this International Webinar were Sinhgad Institute of Management, Pune, Savitribai Phule Pune University (Faculty of Commerce and Management), Association of Indian Management Schools (AIMS), Corporate Gurukul, Singapore, Happy Marketer, A Merkle Company, Singapore and BPB Publications.
The eminent panel of speakers for the webinar featured Director of XISS, Ranchi; Vice Chancellor of Savitribai Phule Pune University, Padma Bhushan Awardee, NASA Scientist, stalwarts of International and National Universities and Founding Members of assorted Enterprises.
The webinar began on Wednesday with the inaugural session and a welcome address with insights on Jesuit Education in present scenario by Fr. (Dr.) Joseph Marianus Kujur S.J., Director, XISS. He said: “It is a matter of great pride to partner with Sinhgad Institute of Management, Pune and other collaborators of international and national repute at this platform. This association reconfirms our equal presence and contribution to the initiative of transforming education like any other management Institute of the world
He applauded the timely themed event which is the need of the hour on how education is being transformed due to COVID-19. He said: “XISS is learning to respond to the current challenges of technology for dissemination of knowledge and we are open to learning the best practices from others and inculcate it in our method of teaching.”
XISS strives in imparting value-based education and has always believed in innovation and continuous learning with digitization, thus, leading the path during this trying times of COVID-19 pandemic. This international webinar is the right opportunity for creating a roadmap for change.
Dr. Rik Das, Assistant Professor, Programme of Information Technology and also the co-ordinator for the event on behalf of XISS was one of the members on the panel of eminent invited speakers during this three-day webinar. The illustrious panel was graced by a Padma Bhushan Awardee, NASA Scientist, eminent stalwarts of International and National Universities and Founding Members of assorted Enterprises to name a few.
Dr. Das in his address during the webinar discussed on the topic, ‘Unlearning to Self Learning: Acclimatizing Education 4.0’. He said: “The theme of the Webinar is in line with the unique curriculum offered by the Programme of Information Technology, XISS, based on enhancing skill sets for getting accustomed with requirements of Industry 4.0. The necessary skills for the new age job requirements are well incorporated in the offerings of the programme which include components like open source programming languages, machine learning and artificial intelligence. Dr. Das has also encouraged disseminating knowledge for free through online channels which is in line to the values of XISS in spreading knowledge selflessly to larger communities worldwide.”
Fr. David Kullu, S.J., Finance Officer, XISS expressed his happiness over the association with such esteemed institutions of the country while taking the challenge of COVID-19 and turning it into a favorable technology based education system. He also said that the global collaboration shows no boundary whatsoever and that learning can take place anywhere, which is proven by the encouraging viewership of the event.
