Dr. Indrani Ghatak did her schooling from Pranavananda Vidyamandir Bharat Sevashram and higher secondary from Bidhan Chandra Institution, Durgapur. She completed her graduation from Ashutosh College affiliated under University of Calcutta with Psychology Honours. She then did Masters in Social Work (MSW) from Vidyasagar University with first class. She stood first in the University and received Gold Medal. After this she pursued M.Phil. in Women Studies from University of Burdwan and stood first class first. Thereafter, she cleared UGC-NET (JRF) in the year 2013 and earned prestigious fellowship to pursue her doctoral research from University of Burdwan. She was awarded Ph.D. in July, 2019 from Department of Sociology affiliated under University of Burdwan on the thesis titled “Perception and experiences of married women about Domestic Violence – A study in Durgapur, West Bengal.”

She has almost eight years of teaching experience. Before joining XISS, Ranchi, she has worked as an Assistant Professor of Social Work in Department of Social Work, Law College Durgapur affiliated under Kazi Nazrul University, Asansol. Dr. Indrani has also been invited to deliver guest classes in some of the reputed universities, like Jadavpur University, Rabindra Bharati University and Netaji Subhas Open University. She is also registered academic counselor of IGNOU. She has also experience in the field of administrative responsibilities. She has been appointed and served as member of Ad-hoc Board of P.G Studies in Master of Social Work in University of Burdwan. She has also been appointed as paper setter, moderator, examiner, reviewer for Vidyasagar University, Rabindra Bharati University, Netaji Subhas Open University, IGNOU, University of Burdwan.

She has published and presented many papers in journals and conferences respectively of international and national repute. She specializes in the field of Social Work and Social Justice, Human Psychology and psychological disorders, Mental Health Counselling, gender related issues.
