Dr. Amardip Singh did his schooling from Janta High School Satayan, Jamaui (Bihar) and his Intermediate of Science (I.Sc.) from RD&DJ College Munger (Bihar). Subsequently he did his Graduation (Bachelor of Science) from AN College, Patna (Magadh University, Bodh Gaya) in the stream of Environment and Water Management and then Master of Science in the steam of Environmental Sciences from the same college. After Masters, he qualified UGC-NET (Environmental Sciences) for lectureship and then he was selected by Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Govt. of India as a Research Scholar for pursuing Ph.D. and received the prestigious fellowship grant of DBT as JRF (Junior Research Fellowship) and SRF (Senior Research Fellowship). His Ph.D. degree was awarded in the year of 2009. During his research, he identified several phosphate solubilising bacterial strains having excellent potential as bio-fertiliser. Dr. Singh has other qualifications like Certificate in Disaster Management (IGNOU, New Delhi), Post Graduate Diploma in Journalism (Chennai), Diploma in Office Computing (Zed Point Education Centre, Patna).

Professional Experience

Dr. Singh has more than 10 years of teaching experience at post graduate level and 12 years of experience in research and consultancy services. His domain expertise is Environmental Science (Strategic Environmental Planning, Climate Change and Sustainable Development, EIA & EMP, Natural Resource Management, Environmental Health, Environmental Microbiology and Biotechnology, Disaster Management). Dr. Singh is a recipient of prestigious Fellowship Grant of Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Government of India (JRF & SRF). He qualified UGC-NET for lectureship for Indian Universities. During his research, he identified several phosphate solubilising bacterial strains having excellent potential as bio-fertiliser. As a core research team member, Dr. Singh has reported many arsenic hotspots in the districts of Bihar under the UNICEF-sponsored research project ‘Assessment of Arsenic Contamination in the Ground Water’.


Dr. Singh has coordinated and completed 28 research and consultancy projects and worked in another 14 consultancy projects related to Environmental Impact Assessment and Social Impact Assessment in last 12 years. The major research and consultancy projects completed by Dr. Singh includes: Social Inclusion and Empowerment of Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe Population under NDP1; Study on Viability of Existing Human Resources Structure in 24 District Rural Development Agencies (DRDAs) and 16 Blocks of Jharkhand; Carrying out the Social-Environment Studies under Carrying Capacity Study of Saranda Forests to Suggest Annual Cap for Ore Production (Jharkhand); Socio-economic Survey of Nine Villages and Preparation of R&R Plan of Thermal  Power Plant (Jharkhand); Socio-economic Survey of Six Villages & Preparation of R&R Plan of Jitpur Coal Block (Jharkhand); Survey, Study and Evaluation of the Impact of Dug Wells taken up under MGNREGS in Jharkhand;  Evaluation Study on Border Area Development Programme in three States of India (Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and Uttaranchal); Social Impact Assessment of Lohari Coal Mine Block (Jharkhand); Quick Evaluation Study on 14 Major Development Programmes in Five Districts of Jharkhand Affected by Left Wing Extremism; Preparation of Master Plan of Six Cities/Towns of Punjab; Microbial Biodiversity Consortium Network of Bihar; Assessment of Arsenic Contamination in the Groundwater (Bihar) etc.

The important funding agencies/clients who supported the research and consultancy projects includes: National Dairy Development Board (NDDB), Gujarat; Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education (ICFRE), Dehradun; Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL); Jindal Steel and Power Limited (JSPL); Ministry of Rural Development, Govt. of Jharkhand; Planning Commission, Govt. of India; Usha Martin Limited (UML); Punjab Urban Development Authority (PUDA); Department of Biotechnology, Govt. of India; United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF), Patna (Bihar) etc.

Apart from teaching, research and consultancy services, Dr. Singh has published 10 research articles in peer review journals of national and international repute; five articles in edited book of national and international repute, seven articles in the proceedings of national and international conference/ seminar/workshop; and one book review in the journal. In addition, Dr. Singh has presented many research articles; delivered invited lectures; and chaired/co-chaired the sessions in national and international conferences and seminars.
