A Sanitary Napkin Vending Machine was installed and inaugurated by Dipika Pandey Singh, MLA Mahagama constituency also an alumna of Information Technology Department (Batch 1998-2000) of Xavier Institute of Social Service, Ranchi in the college campus on Tuesday.
During the installation and inauguration of the vending machine, Pandey expressed her happiness on coming back to her alma mater and said that it is always a matter of pleasure to come back and contribute. She demonstrated the use of the machine and also hoped that this initiative will be of good use for girl students and faculty keeping in mind the importance of health and hygiene even more during these COVID-19 times. She also said that very soon she would like to come back to the Institute and interact with the students.
Fr. Joseph M. Kujur, S.J., Director, XISS expressed his happiness on the installation of the vending machine and said: “This initiative of maintaining good hygiene amongst girl students of XISS is a welcome move and at the same time it makes us proud that our alumna has taken up this initiative along with Rotary Club. The first vending machine is installed in the Girl’s Common Room and another one will be installed soon in the Lady Faculty Common Room.”
He further said that XISS hopes that this association continues in future as well. He expressed his happiness on the arrival of the MLA to her alma mater and said that students who have passed from XISS are involved in varied social awareness, social justice and women empowerment initiatives across the State and it shows the values instilled by XISS. He also shared that in future, they will be invited to the Institute for sharing their journey with students to learn from.
Mr. Aditya Vikram Jaiswal, State President, All India Professionals Congress (AIPC) was also present during the inauguration ceremony. This initiative of installation of vending machine was taken by the recently elected Ranchi Chapter Secretary of AIPC and also a Rotarian, Ms. Khyati Munjal who informed this to be a much needed requirement of the time for all and similar efforts will be continued in other colleges and rural areas as well.
Fr. Pradeep Kerketta, S.J., Assistant Director, XISS, Prof. AR Bodra, Prof. Mary Bodra, Mr. Jasbir Khurana, Vice President, Alumni Association of XISS (AAXISS) were also present during the ceremony along with others.
