In an effort to take special care of our senior citizens of Ranchi, the district administration in collaboration with Xavier Institute of Social Service (XISS), officially launched the toll free number (1800 890 1021) under the “Surakshit Dada Dadi Nana Nani Abhiyan” by DC, Shri Chhavi Ranjan, IAS Ranchi District in XISS campus on Thursday.
This campaign is an initiative of NITI Aayog in collaboration with Piramal Foundation which has been launched across the nation on 5th May, 2020.
Fr. (Dr.) Joseph Marianus Kujur S.J., Director XISS welcomed the guests during the ceremony. He thanked the administration for choosing XISS for this noble initiative. He also said that during the time of COVID-19 the district administration has done a wonderful job and now we hope to follow their footsteps in securing the lives of the elderly. XISS aims to be a good platform for this helpline number and with the efforts of the volunteers; we hope to serve the purpose of helping the senior citizens. XISS has earlier been involved in establishing shelter homes for migrant workers and food kit distribution done in Hindpiri area.
Addressing the gathering, Shri Chhavi Ranjan, IAS, appealed all the senior citizens of Ranchi to make maximum use of this toll-free number in registering their grievances. He also said that the volunteers of the helpline will take note of the problems and direct it to the Office of the Additional Director of Social Security. He added that the grievances received will be quickly resolved while the issues which are long pending will be tried to be resolved through co-ordination with different line departments.
Shri Ananya Mittal, DDC Ranchi highlighted saying that this helpline is for the health and security of our senior citizens. The call centre set up in XISS will serve as a speedy grievance redressal system for our elderly and with the help of Pahal, the mother NGO for this campaign in Ranchi.
The helpline will be operated by 20 volunteers from XISS who will receive the call and record the responses and forward it to the district administration. With this initiative, a quick disposal of grievances will take place and assist the elderly of the society during these trying times, was informed by Aditya Raj, Co-ordinator of the campaign and Assistant Project Officer at XISS.
The campaign was also graced by Fr. Pradeep Kerketta S.J.; Assistant Director, XISS; Fr. Xavier Soreng S.J., Superior, XISS; Mr. Jasbir Singh Khurana, Vice-president AAXISS; Representatives from Pahal and Kutumb along with the volunteers.
