Dr. M.H.Ansari did his schooling from Karimia High School Jamshedpur, (Jharkhand) and Intermediate and graduation from Karim City College, Jamshedpur in Commerce stream. Then after, he completed Post- graduate course in “Social Service with specialization in Personnel Management and Industrial Relation” (PGDSSPM&IR) from Xavier Institute of Social Service (XISS), Ranchi, Jharkhand.
Given the background of his post-graduate study in Social Service at XISS, he was appointed as Project Officer of Community Development in 1979 and was placed to work in the field. Having experience of the project operations in the field, he was transferred to the main office of XISS in the year 1984 and was made Incharge of Urban field Work. Subsequently he continued his higher studies and obtained Master of Commerce (M.COM) degree from Ranchi University with specialization in Human Resources. In 1986 he was associated in teaching to the students of Rural Development and Personnel Management. In 1987 he obtained MBA degree with specialization in Marketing Management from Institute of Management and Business Education, Kolkata. In the same year he was promoted to Lecturer and was made head of the Adult Education Department. In 1992 he was promoted to Senior Lecturer. In 1996 he was promoted to the post of Reader. In view of his increasing teaching assignments at XISS continued further studies and in 1997 obtained a Diploma in Mass Communication from All India Institute of Management Studies, Chennai. In the year 2000, he was awarded Doctorate from Ranchi University, Ranchi. The topic of his doctoral research was “Institutional Farm Financing, A Case of Tribal Region of Bihar”. He has to his credit several articles on banking finance published in the Jharkhand Journal of Management and Development. In 2006, he has authored a book titled “Bank Financing and Agriculture Development”. In 2014, he presented a paper in the International Conference organized by 20th International Association of Jesuit Business School World Forum at Seoul, South Korea.
His academic and research interests include banking finance, micro credit, self help groups, women’s empowerment, livelihood promotion, non-formal education, entrepreneurship development and such other social issues. He has imparted several capacity building training courses on CRS and rural development issues such as Leadership Building and Motivation, Gender Sensitivity and Women’s empowerment, Promotion of Training Skills, Organization Development, Promotion of Communication Skills, Participatory Rural Appraisal, Project Proposal Design, Accounting Skills, Prospective Planning and Promoting Alternative Education (Non-formal Education), for the key level functionaries of Non-Governmental Organizations, Support Organizations, Village level agencies and Corporate houses. In the last 30 years of his teaching tenure, the main papers were Communication for Development, Financial Accounting, Soft Skills and Personality Development, Non-formal Education, Training for Development, Rural Financing, and Entrepreneurship Development. In 2004 he was given the responsibility of Head of the Department of Rural Management. Subsequently he was promoted to Professor in 2005.
