Shri. Saibal Baroi, Former Director Advocacy – CARE INDIA left for the heavenly abode on August 02, 2020 after suffering a massive heart attack in Kolkata. With deep sorrow, a virtual condolence meeting in memory of Shri. Baroi, beloved alumnus of (1995-97 batch) of Rural Development department was organized by Xavier Institute of Social Service (XISS), Ranchi and Alumni Association of XISS (AAXISS) on August 08, 2020.
Shri. Baroi was a decorated alumnus of the then Rural Development department which is now Rural Management Programme, he was active in the social sector for more than two decades and was a driving force towards excellence. He is survived by his wife and son.
Dr. (Fr.) Joseph Marianus Kujur, SJ, Director XISS expressed his grief on the demise of the soul and assured the bereaved family that the XISS family stands in solidarity with them at this time of sorrow. Fr. Pradeep Kerketta, SJ, Assistant Director XISS offered his condolences to the family and prayed for the peace of the soul. He also appreciated the amazing work Shri Baroi did for his alma mater.
Dr. Himadri Sinha, HoP, Rural Management Programme, XISS recalled the camp days spent with Shri. Baroi while he was studying in XISS and his empathy towards the poor and underprivileged which had always set him as a professional with a difference. Shri. Saurabh Baroi, Brother of the deceased soul and also an alumnus of XISS, said that the family wishes to keep the happy memories spent with him and remembers him fondly as someone who worked for the poor and the marginalized throughout his life. He also sought everyone to remember Shri. Baroi’s family in their prayers.

Amitabh Das, Bangalore Chapter; Shri. Rishi Pathania, Gujarat Chapter; Shri. Manish Kumar, Mumbai Chapter; Shri. Prashant Kumar, Bihar Chapter; Shri. Aragya Sen, Pune Chapter; Shri. Thomson Thomas, Uttar Pradesh Chapter; Shri. Sukanta Upadhyay, Odisha chapter along with Senior alumni Shri. Rajneesh Singh and Shri. Awadesh Krishna reminisced about the legacy left behind by Shri. Baroi and resolved to stand with the bereaved family at this time of sorrow.
Prof. Nidhi Shukla, Alumni Relations Coordinator, XISS extended heartfelt condolences to the grieving family for their unfathomable loss on behalf of the entire XISS and AAXISS family.

Saurabh Baroi, for joining with us and sharing his feelings and thoughts. In his vote of thanks, Dr. Tigga thanked all distinguished alumni and representatives of different chapters of AAXISS for coming together to remember the beautiful soul and the resolve of standing by the grieving family. He also thanked Mr. Alok Kumar Gupta, Secretary, AAXISS for conducting the virtual condolence meeting along with the other technical and backend support team.
