The Chief Speaker for the evening was Mr. Gaurav Suman a Manager with Daimler South East Asia Pte. Ltd, Singapore. The orientation of the seminar was towards zeroing in on those critical areas where a person can build his career of choice. Mr. Gaurav correlated the career choices with the ground realities in the existing corporate setup. He shared his own personal experiences of the corporate life so as to set an example in front of the future managers. He laid more emphasis on the alignment of the job with a persons skill set and not actually laying more emphasis on the money part of it. An MBA being a generic degree he suggested on doing certification courses as value addition. He laid emphasis on the managers being well adept at the usage of the latest computer applications in their respective fields. The healthy interaction of the students with the speaker made the seminar more effective. The speakers humility and an uncanny ability to put the facts of the field forward were commendable. Overall in a nutshell, the seminar was very inspiring and apprising.- Zaid Mohammed Shabbir(Finance -2)

<marquee bgcolor="#99CCFF" onmouseover="stop()" onmouseout="start()" scrollamount="3"> *** </marquee>

Dr. Amardip Singh presented a paper

Dr. Amardip Singh,Research Department(XISS),presented a paper entiltled "Industrialization, intensive agriculture and unscientific disposal of solid waste: An urgent need for their control" in a national seminar on the topic "The problem of Fluoride, Arsenic and Heavy Metal contamination in drinking water in the Ganga plain" dated 21-22 Sept. 2010, organised by G.B. Recently the Marketing and Finance students of the batch 2009-2011 have organized a get-together party for their existing seniors. While everybody expects management students to be engrossed in management theories by Peter Drucker, these students have got some extra passion to exhibit their talents through the tune of classical music, sometimes with the vibes of rocking beats. Well, a different way of applying theories no doubt.

Inaugurated by the opening speech of the Director Fr. Alex Ekka, the programme was proved as a finest piece of entertainment, in the presence of Asst. Director Fr. Pradeep, HODs and faculty members. If people think that a management student today has to be a Jack of all trade, then here is a number of Jacks who set the stage onto fire by their exuberant performance. And probably this was the reason why none of the people present that time in auditorium felt any cold, though it was a night of October end in the hill town of Ranchi. So ultimately it was a warm reception to the winter in the XISS, and a call for the upcoming session when talents at XISS start blossoming through the various events, proactively organized by their creative souls.

<marquee bgcolor="#99CCFF" onmouseover="stop()" onmouseout="start()" scrollamount="3"> *** </marquee>

XISS MADE A DISCOVERY OF TALENTS THROUGH EUREKA !

Inquisitiveness of the young brains of XISS thought it quizzically to bring to life the world of business before everyone and what could be a more efficient way than that of a quiz. So Eureka the quiz contest had its opening on October 31, 2009 at the auditorium of XISS at 12 noon. Indispensible to mention the actors behind the show were students of second year who invented this innovative idea of organizing a group called Corporate Relationship Cell (CRC) which would initiate programmes like quizzes, case studies, theatre shows, extempore and the like which are the channels to discuss any business. Business as such seems to wear a blanket of incompleteness without these activities, hence came the idea of forming this group CRC. Plethora of ideas flowed in the event as uniqueness could be reflected at each and every stage. Not to mention the young talents were keen to participate in the programme and it invited nearly eighty students for the prelims. The prelim was organized on October 26 from where fifteen students were shortlisted for the finals on the basis of a written quiz round. A warm afternoon and a sweet audience welcomed the fifteen talented students on the stage who were to have a neck to neck competition. Tokens of praise went to those students who worked relentlessly to set the questions, made the Power point presentations and the like to make the quiz rise high with success, acting like a BUOYANT force, apt title : EUREKA. Finalists were from Marketing : 1 & 2, Finance : 1, RD : 2 and PM : 1.
The quiz consisted of five rounds : starting with "Wake up" : a round where five questions were asked to each group; followed by "Who am I" : where they had to identify the personality by the hints given; next was "Window or specific" : a round on chronology, and at the end a round through audio and video along with the rapid fire round which wrapped up the game. A salute to the quiz master Tuhin Sarkar, PM : 2 who made the entire quiz brim over with life.

The occasion was graced by HODs and Faculty members of different departments. Finally PM : 1 lifted up the shield followed by Marketing : 1 and Finance : 1 who were first and second Runner-ups respectively. The winners were rewarded by Prof. A. R. Bodra, HOD of marketing. Indeed the efforts of the CRC members bore fruits with the success of the quiz.

Top

Home | About Us | Academic | Faculty | Placement | Student | Alumni

© 2008, XISS.
