Collaboration between Xavier Institute of Social Service, Ranchi and Emmanuel Hospital Association, New Delhi

 
As a new venture Xavier Institute of Social Service, Ranchi has joined hands with Emmanuel Hospital Association ( EHA), New Delhi in September 2011 for Global Fund Round - 9 India HIV ( IDU ) Grant under which STRC has to build up the capacities of TI NGOs of Bihar and Jharkhand to strengthen the reach and quality of IDU Harm Reduction services .

 

  
Major strategies of the programme are:
  1. Strengthening the harm reduction programme by building capacities of TI NGOs of Bihar and Jharkhand working with injecting drug users
  2. Strengthening the skills of TI NGOs on Harm Reduction approaches like effective implementation of needle syringe exchange programme (NSEP), Oral substitution therapy (OST), abscess prevention and management, use of DIC, correct and consistent use of condoms, effective referral and linkages, advocacy and community mobilization.
  3. Enhancing the capacities of TI NGOs staff for improving access to services for Female Drug Users and sexual partners of IDUs
 
Achievement EHA Program
The State Training and Resource Centre collaborated with Emmanuel Hospital Association under GFATM Round 9 for Capacity building of program staff of IDU TIs-Bihar and Jharkhand.
  • Conducted harm reduction induction training for ORWs of Bihar and Jharkhand. The entire cadre of ORW (39) completed the five day’s residential training at XISS, Ranchi corganised by State Training and Resource Centre.
  • The TNA tool for Outreach Workers was developed by State Training and Resource Centre with specific focus on IDUs.
