State Training and Resource Centre (STRC)
State Training and Resource Centre (STRC), Jharkhand has been setup by NACO at Xavier Institute of Social Service, Ranchi on 15th of June 2010 to develop a sustainable system for the capacity building of NGOs / CBOs under NACP III working for Targeted Intervention project for saturating the coverage of core (FSW, MSM and IDU) and bridge(Migrants and Truckers) population.
STRC seeks to impart quality training to the Targeted Intervention Partners for High Risk Groups (HRGs) with Jharkhand State AIDS Control Society.
Need for STRC
Focused and uniform strategies are required to develop the capacities of TI partners to ensure the quality of intervention in order to saturate the coverage of core target population.STRC at XISS will play a major role in imparting quality training to the TI implementing agencies.
STRC major role will be building capacities of NGOs based on the curriculum developed by NACO for each category of TI functionaries. Adaption of Training Module as per local need, design of teaching aids, develop training need assessment tool, doing field visits for assessing the training need, developing pool of local human resources for imparting training at state and district level, developing learning sites, conducting operational research, will be the special feature of STRC.
As a new venture Xavier Institute of Social Service, Ranchi has joined hands with Emmanuel Hospital Association (EHA), New Delhi in September 2011 for Global Fund Round - 9 India HIV (IDU) Grant under which STRC has to build up the capacities of TI NGOs of Bihar and Jharkhand to strengthen the reach and quality of IDU Harm Reduction services.
